Metaphor in the structure of the poetic text of Svetlana Barabash

Abstract

The article explores metaphors that appropriately
and vividly convey the mood and character of the author’s style of the famous
Ukrainian poetess, scientist Svetlana Barabash. It is established that the structure of
the metaphor depends on what lexical relation it expresses. According to this, the
semantic core of poetic metaphors is made up of adjectives, nominative or verbal
signs. It is noted that most often in the analyzed verses we observe verbal
metaphorical transferences. The metaphorical meaning of a verb can also be
disclosed in a wide context. Often, to create a holistic image using a verb metaphor,
the poet uses constructions that combine several metaphors. It is noted that the lexical
system of the language is enriched by replenishing it with nominative combinations
with metaphorical content. Adjective metaphors are used in poetic creativity to
express qualitative attributes through expressive-expressive markings designed to
enhance the reader’s imagination. It is established that the provision of the
characteristics and actions of living beings inherent in inanimate objects and
phenomena of inanimate nature is one of the specific features of S. Barabash's poetry.
It is revealed that metaphorical transfers are strung on each other, enhancing the
emotional perception of the work. So there are hyperbolic images.
