Alphabets of the "From A to Z" Series as an Innovative Resource for Studying Lexicographical Sources at the Ukrainian Language Lessons in the 10th Grade

Modern language education requires new approaches to selecting and using educational materials in compliance with the New Ukrainian School conception and competency-based learning. The alphabet-encyclopedias of the "From A to Z" series are an example of a unique educational resource that combines the features of an alphabet, encyclopedia, and art publication, making them especially valuable for mastering lexicographic sources in the Ukrainian language school course. The study aims to substantiate the feasibility of using encyclopedia alphabets in Ukrainian language lessons in the 10th grade when studying the topic of types of dictionaries and to discuss the methods of designing an author's lesson using such materials. Research methods: theoretical analysis of sources and current educational concepts, a comparative approach to evaluating traditional and innovative approaches to the study of lexicography, and modeling techniques when developing a lesson plan. Research results. The author argues that the alphabets of the "From A to Z" Series, published by the "Staryi Lev" Publishing House, serve as an effective tool for developing students' practical skills of work with reference literature, developing their critical thinking and cognitive interest in Ukrainian culture and language studies. The proposed lesson outline, worked out by the author, shows the original ways to integrate non-standard factual material into the study of lexicography, forming skills in searching, analyzing, comparing, and structuring lexical units. Conclusions. The approach, described in the article, contributes to increasing the students' motivation and developing their competencies, expands the traditional idea of the dictionary as a source of knowledge, and also emphasizes the importance of the teacher's professional skills in preparing Ukrainian language lessons that meet the tasks of a modern school.
