"Free Poetic Society" of Iriney Falkivsy in 1792

The purpose of this article is to disseminate scholarly knowledge about the manuscript materials of the "Poetic Collection" from 1792, preserved in the holdings of the Institute of Manuscripts of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. This collection was compiled by Iriney Falkivsky, the founder of the "Free Poetic Society."
The methodology of the article is based on cultural-historical, biographical, textual, and descriptive approaches.
The research results include an analysis of the society's statutes and a discussion of the poetic works contained in the "Poetic Collection," emphasizing the importance of preserving and studying manuscript documents that reflect past cultural processes. The article examines the poetic works of the students, particularly classical odes with proper structure and a new syllabo-tonic style of verse, which are dedicated to the celebration of Christ's Resurrection. It is revealed that the collection contains the best examples of poetry by student members of the group who studied in different classes at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Overall, this article highlights the significance of the "Poetic Collection" and the "Free Poetic Society" in the context of the development of Ukrainian poetry and culture in the 18th century. The analysis of manuscript materials and poetic works by
student members of the group helps to better understand the contribution of this society to the cultural environment of its time and enriches our knowledge of the literary heritage of that period. The further fate of the "Free Poetry Society" is unknown, but at its time, it played an important role in the cultural development and emergence of Ukrainian poetry, the improvement of poetic language, style, and the convergence of folk and literary cultures. These types of clubs not only served as a source for reading books but also contributed to the improvement of the general education level of the parish clergy, which was of great importance for the culture of Enlightenment in Ukraine.
