Stylistic and Generic Features of Lesya Ukrainka’s Poetic Dramaturgy in Domestic and Diasporic Scientific Paradigm (on the «Forest Song» material)

The article deals with the
analysis of genreric and stylistic features of Lesya Ukrainka's dramaturgy on the
example of drama-feerie «Forest Song», conducted in the modern scientific
paradigm. It argues that modernization of the Ukrainian drama affected the genre
formation of verse drama which tends to imagery and conventionality (fairytale,
feerie, mystical, oneiric). Lesya Ukrainka offered a modern concept of Ukrainian
literature, based on a strong national tradition with orientation on European culture
best achievements. The research shows writer’s outstanding ability to combine
worldwide tendencies with Ukrainian context that was highly appreciated by scholars in Ukraine and abroad. «Forest Song» represents creative mix of national traits,
traditions, and modernized European worldview. During her life, Lesya Ukrainka
permanently widened her knowledge and improved writing skills which led to
distinct evolution of her works. Artistic qualities and high level of expressive
potential make «Forest Song» one of the most important achievements of world
dramaturgy. Yet, the literary and aesthetic principles of this art work (such as literary
movement, genre, style, etc.) still require terminological distinctiveness.
