Abstract

The article considers the works of Agatangel Krymsky, Spiridon Cherkasenko and Lesya Ukrainka in comparative (national literature) and comparative (non-national environment of the Bible) contexts. Intertextual connections in the research are taken as the basis for the development of the literary text, the specifics of its functioning in the system of primary source – writer – interpretation. Thus, the aim of the work is to identify the features of the poetics of leading Ukrainian artists of the frontier era, in
particular the defining in modernism plot and sensory self-projection of creative personality through the «mediation» of the sacred mythological donor text. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study were the achievements of comparative studies, in particular in the field of historical and comparative typology, genre and thematics. The work of biblical studies and, accordingly, the methods of «discourse analysis» and «history of ideas» proved to be important in view of the sacred donor text.

The results of scientific research in the stated areas include: comparative delineation of the ways of work of writers with factual material; identifying the artistic style of writers; identification of leading ideological and plot models for three artists in interaction with the original source; analysis of the mechanisms of development and functioning of the character sphere; study of the authorʼs understanding of the main conflict of the evangelical «plot of betrayal»; detection of algorithms of text influence on the reader. The conclusions of the article emphasize the outlined results, in particular the successful frontal application of the methods of comparative studies for the study of artistic phenomena of the mononational register. The use of comparative methods in working with biblical material was also successful. Separate authorʼs interpretations of the eternal plot seem to be present here, where each of the artists managed to reveal his own original version.
