From critical reception to cultural news: the work of Lesya Ukrainka and Olena Pchilka on the pages of the magazine "Novi Dni"

The purpose of the study is to trace the specifics of the diverse materials of the magazine "Novi Dni" (1950–1997), dedicated to the work of Lesya Ukrainka and Olena Pchilka. The publication methodology is based on general scientific methods of analyzing and systematizing materials, comparing information, and forming conclusions. Special methods include content analysis and the cultural-historical method, elements of the biographical method and anti-colonial reading. A comprehensive approach ensured the formation of a holistic understanding of the social functions of periodicals.
The result of the study is the identification of such aspects of the presence of classics Lesya Ukrainka and Olena Pchilka on the pages of the magazine "Novi Dni" as the popularization of creativity, literary criticism, memoirs and information materials, and poetic dedications to Lesya Ukrainka.
It has been studied that in the magazine "Novi Dni" attention to the works of classics is mainly determined by the anniversary factor. Articles by P. Odarchenko were published to commemorate the centennial of Lesya Ukrainka and the 50th anniversary of the sad anniversary of Olena Pchilka. It was observed that in the article dedicated to the work of Lesya Ukrainka, the author actualized the ideological imperatives of the writer, emphasizing the relevance of works of an anti-colonial nature. The fundamental nature of the literary portrait "Glorious Daughter of the Ukrainian People Olena Pchilka" is emphasized. It was noted that the memoirs of the Belarusian composer M. Shcheglov about Olena Pchilka are important in Dmitry Chub's publication.
In the analysis of poems dedicated to Lesya Ukrainka, intertextual elements were noted, in particular, reminiscence at the level of mentioning facts of biography, images, titles of works or poetry collections; allusion; almost verbatim quoting of
- Franko. In addition, the writer's liberation ideas are actualized in the works of the Ukrainian diaspora.
It has been traced that reprints from post-Soviet sources are a component of the editorial policy of "Novi Dni". These are artistic and informational materials.
A number of informational texts dedicated to the commemoration of Lesya Ukrainka by the Ukrainian community of Canada and the mayor of Winnipeg were reviewed.
The conclusions emphasize the importance and prospects of the scientific problem.
